STADIUMS AT THE 2024 EUROPEAN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Euro 2024 will take place across 10 stadiums in Germany. From the world-famous 70,000-seat Olympiastadion to the lesser-known 42,000-seat Leipzig Stadium, each is state-of-the-art and accustomed to hosting high-profile football matches and events.

OLYMPIASTADION BERLIN

City: Berlin
Distance from Berlin Brandenburg Airport: 35.5km

Originally built for the 1936 Summer Olympics, the renovated Olympiastadion is the largest football stadium in Germany. With a 70,000-seat capacity, the stadium is no stranger to hosting big international football matches having staged six games at the 2006 World Cup. It will host the Euro 2024 final, including five other games.

COLOGNE STADIUM

City: Cologne
Distance from Cologne Bonn Airport: 24.5km

Originally opened in 1923, 1.FC Köln’s home ground has been renovated numerous times over its illustrious history, the most recent of which came in 2003 ahead of the 2006 World Cup. The 47,000-seater stadium will host four group games along with a knockout match at Euro 2024.

BVB STADION DORTMUND

City: Dortmund
Distance to Dortmund Airport: 14km

BVB Stadion Dortmund is one of the most renowned venues in world football thanks to its famous ‘Yellow Wall’ where 25,000 fans pack together in Europe’s largest free-standing grandstand. At 66,000 seats, the stadium is one of the largest arenas at Euro 2024 and will host four group games and two knock-out matches.

DUSSELDORF ARENA

City: Düsseldorf 
Distance to Düsseldorf airport: 7km

While it’s one of the smallest stadiums at Euro 2024, Düsseldorf Arena still accommodates well over 40,000 fans and is a vibrant part of the city's entertainment scene having hosted numerous concerts and cultural events. The stadium will showcase three group games and two knock-out matches.

FRANKFURT ARENA

City: Frankfurt
Distance to Frankfurt Am Main Airport: 8km

Originally built in 1925, Frankfurt Arena has played host to thousands of football matches and events in the past, including the opening ceremony for the 1974 World Cup. The twice-reconstructed stadium looks a bit different from its initial opening, but at 46,000 seats, is no less atmospheric. It will host four group games and a round-of-16 match at Euro 2024.

ARENA AUFSCHALKE

City: Gelsenkirchen
Distance to Münster Osnabrück International Airport: 95km
Distance to Düsseldorf Airport: 45.5km

Home of seven-time German champions and 1996/97 UEFA Cup winners Schalke 04, the 50,000-seat Arena AufSchalke features a retractable roof that helps create incredible atmospheres for fans. The stadium will show four group games and a round-of-16 encounter at Euro 2024.

VOLKSPARKSTADION HAMBURG

City: Hamburg
Distance to Hamburg Airport: 11.5km

Home of Bundesliga side Hamburger SV, Volksparkstadion Hamburg has been hosting football games since 1953. The 50,000-seater stadium received a significant upgrade in 2000 and staged several matches at the 2006 World Cup. The Volksparkstadion Hamburg will show four group games and a quarter-final at Euro 2024.

LEIPZIG STADIUM

City: Leipzig
Distance to Leipzig Airport: 18.5km

Leipzig Stadium was built inside the shell of the biggest stadium in former East Germany, the Zentralstadion, and opened in 2004. The modern amphitheatre has a state-of-the-art roof and 42,000 seats and is home to RB Leipzig, a Bundesliga team founded in 2009. It is set to host three group games and a knockout game at Euro 2024.

MUNICH FOOTBALL ARENA

City: Munich 
Distance to Munich Airport: 26km

Opened in 2005, the 67,000-seat Munich Football Arena was originally shared between Bayern Munich and 1860 Munich. Now solely owned by Bayern, the stadium has held several memorable matches in the past, including Chelsea’s Champions League Final win against Bayern in 2012. The stadium will host four group games and two knock-out matches at Euro 2024. 

STUTTGART ARENA

City: Stuttgart
Distance to Stuttgart Airport: 18km

Stuttgart Arena has gone through numerous name changes and renovations since its opening in 1933 and has hosted big international games at the 1974 and 2006 World Cups. The 54,000-seater stadium will stage four group games and a quarter-final at Euro 2024.
